Efektivitas Penerapan Sistem Otomasi Perpustakaan di UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the implementation of the library
automation system at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung in managing the scientific
works of the academic community. This research uses a descriptive qualitative
approach with literature study methods and field observations through structured
interviews with system management librarians. The results showed that the
automation system based on EPrints and MySQL has managed more than 48,000
digital documents effectively. Integration with the SALAM academic system has also
proven to reduce delays in uploading scientific papers. However, there are still various
obstacles that need to be considered, such as limited server capacity, low technical
competence of staff, lack of budget allocation, and not optimal integration between
systems. The conclusion of this study confirms that the success of library automation
systems is not only determined by technology, but also requires the readiness of human
resources, policy support, and long-term institutional commitment. These results
provide important implications for the development of a more adaptive digital library
system in supporting the praxis of Islamic higher education.
