Publication Ethics
Community Empowerment : Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed and Open-Access journal. Published by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisip) UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung.
This statement of scientific publication ethics is a statement of the code of ethics of all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. The Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications essentially upholds three ethical values in publication, namely (i) Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (ii) Justice, which is granting authorship rights to those entitled as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publication.
Responsibilities of Journal Manager
- Determine the name of the journal, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
- Determining the membership of the editorial board.
- Defines the relationship between publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
- Respecting confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors/writers, editors, and peer reviewers.
- Implementing norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
- Conducting journal policy reviews and communicating them to authors/writers, editorial boards, peer reviewers, and readers.
- Create a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers.
- Publish journals regularly.
- Ensuring the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
- Building cooperation and marketing networks.
- Preparing permits and other legal aspects.
Editor's Responsibilities
- Bringing together the needs of readers and authors/writers,
- Striving to continuously improve the quality of publications,
- Implementing a process to ensure the quality of published writings,
- Prioritizing freedom of opinion objectively,
- Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record,
- Submitting corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary,
- Being responsible for the style and format of the writing, while the content and all statements in the writing are the responsibility of the author/writer,
- Actively soliciting the opinions of authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve the quality of publications,
- Encouraging journal assessments if there are findings,
- Supporting initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an Ethics Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethics Clearance Commission,
- Supporting initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics,
- Reviewing the effects of publication policies on the attitudes of authors/writers and peer reviewers and improving them to increase responsibility and minimize errors,
- Having an open mind to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions,
- Not defending one's own opinion, the author or a third party that may result in non-objective decisions,
- Encouraging authors/writers to be able to improve their writings until they are worthy of publication.
Responsibilities of Bestari Partners
- Receive assignments from the editor to review written works and submit the results of the review to the editor, as material for determining the suitability of a written work for publication.
- Reviewers may not conduct reviews of written works that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly
- Maintain the privacy of the author by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations
- Encourage authors/writers to improve written works
- Review written works that have been corrected according to predetermined standards.
- Written works are reviewed in a timely manner according to the style of the publication environment based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).
Responsibilities of Authors/Writers
- Ensure that those included in the list of authors/writers meet the criteria as authors/writers.
- Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
- State the source of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
- Explaining limitations in the research
- Responding to comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
- Informing the editor if the paper will be withdrawn.
- Making a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.
