Journal History
Journal of Kutub Turath and Pesantren Studies was established as an academic response to the increasing need for systematic, critical, and scholarly engagement with Islamic intellectual heritage (kutub turāth) and pesantren traditions. The journal was officially launched and published its inaugural issue in 2026 (Volume 1, Number 1) as a dedicated scholarly platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to examine classical Islamic texts and the living intellectual traditions of pesantren within contemporary academic discourse.
Since its first publication, the journal has been committed to advancing rigorous and original research that bridges classical Islamic scholarship with modern academic methodologies, including philological, historical, educational, and socio-cultural approaches. The journal seeks to preserve, reinterpret, and revitalize the intellectual legacy of Islamic knowledge transmitted through pesantren while responding to current intellectual, educational, and societal challenges.
Through the implementation of a double-blind peer-review process and strict adherence to international publication ethics, Journal of Kutub Turath and Pesantren Studies continuously strengthens its editorial quality and scholarly contribution. The journal aspires to become a reputable international reference in the fields of Islamic intellectual heritage and pesantren studies, particularly within Southeast Asia and the broader Muslim world.
