Abstract

Islam is a religion that has a deep understanding of the fact that humans continue to develop and change in every aspect of their lives. Throughout the history of Islamic law, various schools of thought have emerged. The growth of ijtihad fiqh during the time of the Companions led to the emergence of two schools of thought, the traditionalist school and the rationalist school. In the process of its growth, the application of Islamic law has given birth to two schools of thought, which are referred to as ahlu hadith and ahlu ra'yi. The Ahlul Ra'yi school of thought places more emphasis on Kufa and Basra, while the Ahlul Hadith school of thought places more emphasis on the Hijaz, especially Mecca and Medina. The ijtihad method known as Ahlul Ray'i is famous for its application of logic. The thought pattern of hadith ahlul during the tabi'in period was caused by the initial circumstances of the development of Islam, when they were asked to give a fatwa on a problem, they looked at Al-Qur’an, the hadith of the Prophet, and then the fatwa of the Companions on the same basis, namely following their teacher.
