Management of Inactive Archives at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjajaran University (At the Record Center)

Abstract

Inactive Archive management activities will definitely be carried out by several educational institutions to facilitate the effective and efficient retrieval of information. One of them is Padjadjaran University, precisely at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (FIKOM) to carry out management whose implementation is adjusted to the Regulation of the Head of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (PERKA ANRI). This research aims to find out how inactive archives are managed, archive retrieval, the effect of archive management on archive retrieval, and the destruction and transfer of inactive archives. Therefore, qualitative research, descriptive research, and dissertation with interviews were conducted. The results of this study indicate that the management of inactive archives carried out by FIKOM Padjadjaran University is still not sufficient due to the lack of archivists and proper archive storage. So that developments are needed in accordance with the latest archive management system so that the retrieval process carried out by the FIKOM Record Center can present information optimally.
