Article Retraction & Withdrawal

IHDINA: Journal for Islamic Counseling and Psychotherapy is fully committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the scholarly record for all readers. Any modification to articles after online publication is permitted only under specific circumstances as outlined in this policy. The journal places high importance on the authority and permanence of published articles, and this policy follows best practices in academic publishing.

An erratum is issued when authors identify errors or omissions in their published work that require correction. Such corrections must be clearly described, including any impact on the study’s conclusions. The original article remains accessible online, accompanied by an erratum notice that is freely available and directly linked to the corrected article.

A retraction is published when an article is deemed unreliable and should no longer be considered part of the scholarly literature. Retractions may result from research misconduct or honest error, duplicate publication without proper acknowledgment, plagiarism, or unethical research practices. To preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, retracted articles are not removed from the journal archive; instead, a clear retraction notice is published, made freely accessible, and linked to the affected article. Retractions may be initiated by the authors or by the editors or publisher when necessary. Each retraction notice states the reason for the retraction and identifies the party responsible for the decision. If the retraction occurs without the full agreement of all authors, this will be explicitly stated. In exceptional cases involving legal issues, the publisher may redact or remove an article while retaining its bibliographic information.

A publisher’s note is issued to inform readers of corrections made after publication that result from typographical or production errors attributable to the publisher and that affect article metadata or significantly hinder comprehension. In such cases, the original article is replaced with a corrected version, and the correction date is clearly indicated. Publisher’s notes are freely accessible to all readers. Minor errors that do not affect metadata accuracy, scientific validity, or reader understanding may be corrected at the publisher’s discretion without formal notice.

Authors should note that replacement of an original article with a corrected version is only permitted within one year of the original publication date. For articles published more than one year earlier, corrections will be documented solely through a publisher’s note.

This policy is implemented in accordance with the COPE Guidelines for Retraction of Articles to ensure transparency, accountability, and trust in the scholarly record.
