Publication Ethics
The Editors of IHDINA: Journal for Islamic Counseling and Psychotherapy establish this publication ethics policy as a guideline for authors, reviewers, and editors in order to uphold academic integrity and comply with the COPE Core Practices.
This policy aims to prevent research and publication misconduct and to ensure ethical standards throughout the editorial and publishing process. Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, improper authorship, obstruction of misconduct investigations, misuse of confidential information obtained during peer review, unfair evaluation of research, and other serious violations of accepted academic norms.
Fabrication refers to the creation of false data or findings, falsification refers to manipulation or alteration of research data or procedures that results in misleading conclusions, plagiarism refers to the use of others’ ideas, data, or words without proper acknowledgment, and improper authorship refers to the inclusion or exclusion of authors without appropriate scholarly contribution.
The editors and publisher are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the peer review process, correcting the scholarly record when necessary, and promoting ethical awareness. Allegations of misconduct will be investigated in accordance with established procedures and in cooperation with relevant institutions when required.
Confirmed misconduct may result in withdrawal of a manuscript during review or correction, expression of editorial concern, or retraction after publication. Editorial decisions consider the intent and the impact of the misconduct on the reliability of the research. Authors may be restricted from future submissions, and relevant parties may be informed when ethically justified.
Authors are required to submit original work, ensure accuracy and completeness of data, avoid unlawful content, and confirm that manuscripts are not under consideration elsewhere. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the research, approved the final manuscript, and agreed to be accountable for its content.
Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on scholarly merit without discrimination and ensure confidentiality, fairness, and timeliness throughout the review process in accordance with COPE guidelines. Reviewers and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest, and appropriate measures will be taken to maintain objectivity.
Complaints and appeals regarding editorial decisions, processes, or publication ethics are handled by the Editor-in-Chief or handling editor following COPE procedures. If unresolved, complaints may be referred to the Committee on Publication Ethics.
All submissions and communications are treated as confidential, and personal data collected through the journal system are used exclusively for publication purposes. Research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and receive prior approval from an appropriate ethics committee, with relevant details stated in the manuscript.
