Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Education for the Language and Literature of Indonesia (JELLI) strictly prohibits plagiarism and outlines clear policies and actions when it is detected. All submitted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check using Turnitin upon receipt. Plagiarism is defined as using or closely imitating another author’s language or ideas and presenting them as one’s own. Authors must submit original, unpublished work and properly indicate any verbatim content through indentation, quotation marks, and source citation. Any material beyond fair use or reproduced graphics requires permission from the copyright holder and acknowledgment of the source. If plagiarism is found, the Editor in Chief will assess the case and determine appropriate actions based on the severity.
Level of Plagiarism
- Minor:
A short section of another article is plagiarized without any significant data or idea taken from the other paper
Action: A warning is given to the authors, and a request to change the text and properly cite the original article is made
- Intermediate:
A significant portion of a paper is plagiarized without proper citation to the initial paper
Action: The submitted article is rejected, and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles for one year
- Severe:
A significant portion of a paper that involves reproducing original results or ideas presented in another publication is plagiarized.
Action: The paper is directly rejected, and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles for five years.
